Description:
We are moving 1500 miles away, renting a house and although we love both of them, we are unable to take Jack and his companion, 506. If we can't find them a new home, we'll be forced to euthanize them. We rescued Jack seven years ago when he was 8. We did some searching and discovered that he had come from a guest ranch. He was the horse that all the kids rode because he was safe and gentle. When the guest ranch bought him, he had one good eye and one eye that had been removed due to a cataract and replaced with a prosthetic eye. He eventually developed a cataract on the good eye and they couldn't keep him. He made his way through a couple of sale barns and eventually wound up with us. He is an absolute sweetheart. He is trusting and gentle. He is broke to ride and has a very good handle on him. He moves like an English or Dressage horse with big strides and flat knees. My intentions were to start him in Dressage and show him, but with a full time job and 3 kids, I just didn't get it done :) He is in a 3 acre rectangluar pasture. He has learned the boundaries and runs, bucks and kicks up his heels. He even manages to miss the trees.
506 is also a rescue. She is about 20 and came off a embryo transfer farm. She has been severely abused. She is now calm and content. Her only job is to keep Jack company. He relies on her for security. I don't know if she is broke to ride, it didn't matter to us. She is still cautious when being handled and very leery of strangers.
